As the year comes to and end we often look forwards toward the next 12 months to plan what our next ventures may be.

For some, these plans might involve a long trip away somewhere, or perhaps a new job is on the horizon. For others, there could be a much needed home extension project due to start. If this latter scenario is the case for you, be sure to read on…

As specialist bespoke orangery designers, we at Auburn Hill believe that it’s worth having a think about when you’d like your new orangery to be ready by, as this will allow you to start planning the purchase of your new orangery.

Ensure you have ample time for consideration

Clearly an orangery is a big purchase, so you really want to spend a good amount of time considering your budget and the design you’d like, as well as its location, materials and colours. The list goes on!

Getting this decided takes time, so the first few months of the new year should be spent approaching various orangery companies and shopping around. Talk to a few design specialists and start comparing now because even if you’re still not sure of a supplier even after this assesment, you’ve planned early enough in the year to have time to mull over your options.

Planning the orangery building work

Many orangery companies will only provide you with the structure of the orangery itself. This means the building works are often done by another company. At Auburn Hill, we’re happy to work with your chosen supplier or oversee the building work ourselves. Whatever you decide, make sure it’s factored into your orangery plans.

The ideal time to get your building work completed is during a time with seasonably favourable weather. Yes, this is certainly a difficult thing to predict in the UK, but if you aim for early spring you’re in with a good chance of dry weather conditions.

Enjoy your orangery in time for summer

As expected, most people want to use their newly built orangery as soon as possible, so it makes sense to ensure that you are able to get the best out of it straight away. The late spring/early summer months are when UK weather is at it’s best with the garden in full bloom, creating a light ambiance with an enjoyable view. Although an orangery is ideal for enjoying your garden from inside your home too.

With all of this in mind, you can see why now is the time to start putting enquiries out there. It won’t necessarily take 4 – 6 months to build an orangery, but you do want to plan ahead with an appropriate amount of time set aside for consideration so that your new extension is exactly as you want it to be in time for the summer.

A bespoke orangery with Auburn Hill will ensure that your home and garden comes alive all year round!
