Penguin Penalty Recovery
What Is Penguin?
The Google Penguin penalty was first rolled out on April the 24th 2012 and was the second algorithmic filter that was designed to sit alongside the Google Panda penalty to clean up the web. Where the Google Panda penalty looked at low quality content and on page issues, Google Penguin focussed it's attention on low quality links.
Previous to the Penguin update, Google was relatively easy to game with links and many people caught on that you could simply build thousands of automated links containing text of the term you wanted to rank for and this would eventually get you to number 1. Google know this was an issue and have addressed it with Google Penguin.
Today, the Penguin algorithm is still being updated regularly and becomes smarter and more aggressive on each update. We are now in a position where if you have any unnatural links pointing to your website, if they are not causing an issue now they may well do in the future. If you have used any SEO agency in the past that may have been using spammy or automated methods to build links to your site that will need removing to re-balance your link profile.
